“I trust that everything happens for a reason, even when we're not wise enough to see it”
~Oprah Winfrey

I am a senior at Auburn University studying Apparel Merchandising and love Auburn! I look forward to each summer that I get to spend at Red Carpet Day and every chance I get to come home to work with Heart of Passion. I have been involved with Heart of Passion since it started in 2004 and am so grateful for the opportunity to give back and have so
much fun! This summer will mark my fifth summer of being involved with Red Carpet Day and I am excited to see it begin to spread across the nation!! This organization has blessed so many people and I look forward to being a part of it for many, many years as it continues to grow!

Jessica Lusher

Fayetteville, GA | Student – University of Georgia | Secretary of the Advisory Council

“Be happy in the moment, that's enough. Each moment is all we need, not more.”
~Mother Teresa

I am a senior at the University of Georgia and am looking forward to what the future holds. I have been involved with Heart of Passion since it started in July of 2004. Participating in Red Carpet Day Atlanta 2002, 2003, 2004 and serving as event coordinator in 2006, has truly inspired me to be a member of this amazing organization. I am extremely excited to be involved with such a fresh organization that has such energy.

Jenna Thomason

Fayetteville, GA | Student – University of Georgia | Treasurer of the Advisory Council

“You can't make footprints in the sands of time if you're sitting on your butt. And who wants to make buttprints in the sands of time?”
~Bob Moawad

I am currently a fourth-year student at the University of Georgia with high hopes of going to medical school next year. My interest in medicine was actually inspired in 2002 when I volunteered in the very first Red Carpet Day. Since then, I have volunteered at two subsequent RCDs, and in 2004 I became a member of the Heart of Passion Youth Advisory Council. For the past two years, I have helped organize a 5K race at UGA to raise money for Red Carpet Day. I feel extremely blessed to have taken part in this extraordinary and inspirational outreach!

Michael Morgan

Fayetteville, GA | Student – University of Georgia | Chaplain of the Council

“God humbles us without humilitating us and elevates us without flattering us.”
~Ravi Zacharias

I am a senior at the University of Georgia in Athens, Georgia. I am an extremely social person who likes staying active and working people. Although new with Heart of Passion, I worked for 4 years with Red Carpet Day and loved being able to have a positive influence on teenagers. I look forward to do more of the same with Heart of Passion.

Ben Mckinnon

College Park, GA | Student – Emory University | Parliamentarian of the Council

“The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy.”
~Martin Luther King Jr.

HoP has been one of the many blessing in my life. I think of myself as being a kid at heart, so being around people around my age and younger and just having fun is right up my alley. I've volunterred at one RCD (Atlanta 2004) and I lost my hair and then my voice in one day. I'm looking forward to watching HoP grow and have an impact of others as it did on mine.

Danny Giglio

Fayetteville, GA | Student – Georgia Institute of Technology | Council Member

“Sometimes when we are generous in small, barely detectable ways it can change someone else's life forever.”

I became involved in Heart of Passion during the 2004 RCD. Now I am an Advisory Council Member and part of the Policies Committee and Human Resource Committee.

Kristin Porto

Fayetteville, GA | Student – Georgia Institute of Technology | Council Member

“We walk by faith, not by sight.”
~2 Corinthians 5:7

“but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.”
~Isaiah 40:31

I am a Biology major at Georgia Tech and want to go to medical school when I graduate to become an orthopedic surgeon. I absolutely love all sports, especially the Atlanta Braves and Georgia Tech football and baseball! I have been a member of the Advisory Council for almost 2 years now, and was a volunteer at Red Carpet Day 2004, 2005, and 2006. I truly cherish my personal experiences with Red Carpet Day and am excited to watch Heart of Passion continue to impact the lives of young adults!

Megan Smelley

Fayetteville, GA | Student – Georgia Institute of Technology | Council Member

“Be who you are and say what you feel, because the people that mind don't matter and the people that matter don't mind.”
~Dr. Seuss

I have been involved in Red Carpet Day for the past two years, and I cannot express the impact this organization has made on my life. I have never felt so blessed. I am currently on the Advisory Council and hopefully getting involved in the RCDE at Georgia Tech. Heart of Passion is leading me to pursuing work in non-profit for my career after college. I never want to let go of the inspiration I feel at these events. This organization is full of life, just
like all of its participants and volunteers.
