History
“When I was first diagnosed with cancer, I found myself searching for strong support and understanding from people my own age. Frustrated at never succeeding in this, I decided to create a place for teens like me to gather and enjoy themselves, giving them the opportunity to make friends that could always relate. This became my Girl Scout Gold Award project, and, with much help and encouragement from my mother, CURE Childhood Cancer, Six Flags Over Georgia, and the entire Atlanta community, Red Carpet Day was born in 2002. CURE had quickly come on board to take RCD under its umbrella, committing to sponsoring it as an annual event.
''Through CURE’s guidance and encouragement, the first three years of Red Carpet Day were an incredible success – each overtopping the enjoyment of the previous year. After the third event, I founded Heart of Passion, Inc., with one goal in mind being the national expansion of RCD. This year we are planning our fourth event in Atlanta (for teens from GA, NC, SC, and TN) and our first in Dallas, TX (for teens from OK and TX). CURE still plays a vital role in the Atlanta event, and Six Flags has branched its support with us to Dallas.”
